TITLE:

Tfh Cells: The Architects of Adaptive Immunity

ABSTRACT:

Adaptive immunity is defined by its precision in targeting non-self antigens and its capacity for long-term protection. Follicular helper T (Tfh) cells represent the archetype of CD4+ T cell help, essential for orchestrating B cell activation and antibody production—a role first recognised in the 1960s. However, only in the past two decades have we begun to unravel the complex molecular mechanisms that govern Tfh cell differentiation and function. In this talk, I will highlight how recent discoveries in biochemical and metabolic regulation have deepened our understanding of Tfh cells as central coordinators of both humoral and cellular immunity. These insights open new avenues for optimising vaccination and advancing cancer immunotherapy.
