On April 22, Associate Investigator Scott B. Hansen from Chinese Institutes for Medical Research (CIMR), Beijing published an article titled "GABA and astrocytic cholesterol determine the lipid environment of GABAAR in cultured cortical neurons" in Communications Biology. This study is the first to propose that cholesterol may function as a signaling molecule, with astrocytes regulating GABA-A receptors in neurons through the secretion of cholesterol.
