On April 22, Associate Investigator Scott B. Hansen from Chinese Institutes for Medical Research (CIMR), Beijing published an article titled "GABA and astrocytic cholesterol determine the lipid environment of GABA_AR in cultured cortical neurons" in Communications Biology. This study is the first to propose that cholesterol may function as a signaling molecule, with astrocytes regulating GABA-A receptors in neurons through the secretion of cholesterol.
