Date:2025-05-20
Recently, Professor Zhiqiang Yan's team from Capital Medical University and Chinese Institutes for Medical Research (CIMR), Beijing published a comprehensive review  titled "TMC1 and TMC2 function as the mechano-electrical transduction ion channel in hearing" in the journal Current Opinion in Neurobiology. This review systematically consolidates the critical evidence that establishes TMC1 and TMC2 as the primary mechanotransduction ion channels responsible for auditory perception. The article not only elucidates the intricate gating mechanisms of these channels but also provides a forward-looking perspective on future research avenues, highlighting potential areas for further investigation and innovation.
